Simpson Desert biodiversity survey - new species

New species of lichen are amongst those found by a team of 16 scientists that recently surveyed Australia's Simpson Desert for 2 weeks.

The group was invited by an elder of traditional land owners, the Aranda people and supported by the Australian Geographic Society.

Bat zoologist David Gee was excited to discover that up to 6 bat species inhabit micro (hole) caves in the survey area.
