Des the polydactly cat with 26 toes

British press reports on Des the 10 year old polydactyl (many toes) cat which has 26 toes - 6 on each back foot and 7 on each front.

Although he is not the world record holder, it is still very uncommon to have more than 24 toes on a cat.

According to Sally Hyman, from the Llys Nini Animal Centre in Penllergaer, Swansea, "It's quite common to have six toes in Cardiganshire, and therefore we call them 'Cardi-cats' sometimes".
