You might like to join the team!

WLMD is looking for keen contributors who are willing to keep an eye on what's new in the media.

You get to keep up to date with the latest new species, extinctions, rare fauna sightings and conservation issues, as well as contribute to the smooth running and growth of WLMD!

Newswatch features prominently on the homepage. Newswatch items generally follow the same themes as that of the site, namely "examining the evidence" (for rare fauna), "local action for conservation" (raising awareness) and "up close and personal" (with wildlife).

These include new species discoveries, rare and endangered species reports and extinctions.

If you would like to contribute to the maintenance of Newswatch on Where Light Meets Dark, here's what we're after:

Ideally, we would set you up with some news alerts so that when specific key terms appear in the news, you would receive an email.

You would then read the email to see a few lines of the news article. If it sounds like something that we can put on WLMD, then you would open up the full article to check.

If you decide this is worth posting at WLMD, then you would log in to your WLMD account and submit the new Newswatch item.

As part of the submission, you would give the newswatch item a title, and a brief introduction at the least. If you were keen, you could fill in extra information for the full-screen view: a few extra lines of info, or a full article, it's up to you.

Photos look great on the WLMD homepage, but we keenly respect copyright. If appropriate (ie most times), you would probably source a photo from Wikipedia (where the licences are usually friendly) and credit the photo appropriately.

The great news is that using the WLMD content management system, doing all this is easy, and I'm always available to answer questions via email.

If you would like to find out more, or give it a try, then set up a new WLMD account and then contact WLMD so I can enable your account to administer Newswatch, and give you further information.

Thanks for considering joining the team!

Sharing the workload for Newswatch will also free me up to carry out new analyses and update the site's code and functionality.

TIP: If a longer article is available, then the title here will be a link.
